Wedding Photographer at
Robber's Cave

Photographers who can actually shoot Robber's Cave — the only underground cave wedding venue in the region. Requires off-camera lighting expertise. We bring it.

What we know about shooting Robber's Cave

Robber's Cave is genuinely one-of-a-kind in the Midwest — an underground cave venue with a long history (used as everything from a brewery aging cellar to a Prohibition-era speakeasy). It's also the most technically demanding wedding venue we shoot at.

What we've learned:

- It's underground. There is no natural light. Every photo requires off-camera flash, careful exposure work, or LED panels. - The cave's rock walls absorb a lot of light — we bring more flash power than we'd use anywhere else. Cheap or unprepared photographers will produce flat, dark, disappointing photos here. - The texture of the cave walls is incredible at proper exposure — it photographs like a fine-art set if you light it right. We use this to our advantage. - The dramatic backdrop suits dark luxury / editorial wedding photography exceptionally well. Couples who chose Robber's Cave often want non-traditional photography to match.

Why most photographers struggle here

Most wedding photographers in Lincoln are trained on outdoor and well-lit indoor weddings. Robber's Cave breaks both of those defaults. If you're considering booking a photographer for this venue, ask specifically: do they bring off-camera flash as a standard kit (not as an upcharge)? Have they shot here before? Can they show you a full gallery from a cave wedding?

If the answer is 'we use natural light' — they cannot shoot this venue. There is no natural light.

Coordinating the day

Robber's Cave coordinates with Yes Chef Catering for most events. Ceremony, cocktail, and reception can all happen in the cave system, or you can split — some couples do an outdoor ceremony elsewhere and reception in the cave.

We coordinate setup with Justin (venue manager) 30 days before. The cave is also dramatic for couple-portrait sessions even if you have an outdoor reception — we often add a 'cave portrait' moment to standard wedding coverage as a feature shot.

Pricing for Robber's Cave weddings

Most Robber's Cave weddings fit Signature or Heirloom. The off-camera-lighting workload is real — we factor that into delivery. Second shooter is highly recommended for this venue (one shooter on lead with primary lighting, one on candid moments). Drone is not applicable (underground), but cave-portrait sessions integrate beautifully with outdoor coverage at couples' chosen reception venue.

What clients say

Nvar made the entire process effortless. He showed up prepared, knew exactly what shots he wanted, and delivered photos that genuinely look like they belong on a magazine cover. Easily the best money I've spent on imagery.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

How do you light a wedding at Robber's Cave?
Off-camera flash on stands with light modifiers, plus continuous LED panels for video-friendly modeling light. We bring 3-4 light setups as standard for cave weddings (vs the 1-2 we typically use). This is included — no upcharge.
Can guests get good photos with their phones in the cave?
Honestly, no. Phone cameras struggle dramatically in low light, and the cave will produce terrible phone photos — yet another reason hiring a real photographer matters more for this venue than most.
Have you shot at Robber's Cave before?
Yes. We approach cave weddings with a full lighting kit and a clear plan — not as a learn-as-you-go experiment. If you want references from past Robber's Cave couples we shot, ask in your consultation.
Can we do drone or aerial at Robber's Cave?
Underground — no drone. But if your wedding has an outdoor component (welcome dinner, photo session, departure brunch), drone integrates beautifully into that coverage.
