A video letter is a recorded message to the people you love — your spouse, your children, your grandchildren — made deliberately, on real equipment, so it can be watched in thirty years and still feel like you are in the room. It is the lead offering of Project Legacy, and the simplest one: you, a cinema camera, a proper microphone, and the things that deserve to outlast you.
Studio quality is not vanity here. It is durability. A phone clip shot in a kitchen has crushed audio, a shaky frame, and a file format nobody thought about. The person watching it decades from now leans in and strains to hear you. A video letter shot on a Sony cinema camera with professional audio does the opposite: your voice is clear, your face is properly lit, and the master files are delivered in formats meant to be carried forward as technology changes.
You are not recording for this year's phone. You are recording for a wedding toast in 2044, a fortieth birthday, a granddaughter who wants to know what your laugh sounded like.
What People Record
Whatever you want your family to have in your own voice. Some sessions are a single letter — one message to a spouse, meant to be watched once, later. How a Session Works
It starts with a quiet conversation — a call or a coffee, no charge, no obligation. We talk about who the messages are for, what you want to say, and what you would rather have drawn out of you with questions. Most people do not want to monologue at a lens; they want to talk to someone. So that is how we shoot it: a guided conversation with Nvar J.M. Sinclair, founder and the only person in the room, with the camera set slightly off-axis so you are talking to a person, not a machine.
Sessions run at your pace. We take breaks. We re-record anything you want to say better. Nothing is rushed and nothing is performed — the goal is you, sounding like you, saying it right.
Afterward, each letter is edited cleanly: color, sound, and pacing handled with the care of a documentary, without gloss that would make it feel like someone else. You review everything before a single file is finalized. Sessions happen at the studio at 1200 N St in downtown Lincoln, or at your home anywhere in Lincoln, Omaha, or greater Nebraska.
Who Receives What — and When
You stay in control of every frame. On day one, you receive full copies of everything, including the master footage — on a physical drive and in a private cloud folder. Not a compressed export. Not a watermarked preview. The actual masters, yours outright.
The same masters are also held in the NVAR archive on redundant storage, with a written ten-year minimum retention, retrievable at any time by you or the people you designate. If a drive fails or a cloud account lapses fifteen years from now, the letters are not gone.
Delivery is on your terms. You can hand letters out immediately, hold them for specific dates — an eighteenth birthday, a wedding — or leave sealed instructions with a designee. Whatever you decide, the default is absolute privacy: your recordings are never used as portfolio material, never shown as samples, and released only to the people you name in writing. Nobody sees a video letter because it turned out beautifully. They see it because you said so.

Longer sessions and larger sets of letters are quoted plainly before anything is booked — no packages you have to decode.
Video letters are the front door to Project Legacy, our line of legacy films for Lincoln, Omaha, and greater Nebraska. Starting with a single letter and later expanding into a full legacy film — a seated interview documentary with all masters, from $2,500 — is a natural path, but nothing about a letter session obligates you to more.
One honest boundary: a video letter is a gift, not a legal instrument. It does not replace a will, and we do not give legal or estate advice. If you want a recording to sit alongside formal estate plans, your attorney is the right person to coordinate that — we are glad to deliver files however they direct.
