The bio-page photo is doing more work than you think

When a prospective client is choosing between three Lincoln firms, they do what everyone does: pull up the websites and look at the faces. Before they read a word about practice areas, they've decided which attorney seems credible, which seems approachable, and which firm last touched its site a decade ago.

An attorney headshot has one job — signal competence and approachability at the same time — and most fail in one direction. Too stiff, and the team page reads like a lineup. Too casual, and it can't sit next to 'civil litigation' with a straight face. We shoot for the middle: sharp, warm, and unmistakably professional. The version of you a client wants across the table.

Solo practitioners to full-firm refreshes

The $200 individual session covers the solo practitioner, the associate prepping a lateral move, or the partner whose current photo predates their partnership — 30 minutes, 10 fully color-graded selects, same-week delivery.

For firms, we run headshot days: every attorney through the same setup in a single visit, with volume pricing past 5 people — 5 at $150/person, 10 at $130/person, 20+ at $100/person. Attorneys rotate through in short slots between calls, so a full-roster refresh costs the firm an afternoon of scheduling, not a day of billable hours.

In-studio or at the firm

Studio gives you controlled light, a clean backdrop, and the classic portrait that works everywhere — our space is at 1200 N Street, downtown, close to where most of Lincoln's firms already office.

At-the-firm sessions bring the setup to your conference room. Same flat rate. The advantage is context: environmental frames shot in your own space — the library wall, the boardroom, the office your clients actually visit — give the firm site a consistent visual identity that a rented gray backdrop never will. Most firm days end up mixing both: matched backdrop headshots for the bio grid, plus a handful of environmental portraits for the homepage and practice pages.

Consistency is the whole game for firm pages

A team page where every headshot was clearly taken by a different photographer in a different year looks fragmented — and clients notice, even if they couldn't tell you why. Matched lighting, framing, and color across the roster signals a firm that has itself together.

We document the setup for every firm we shoot — lighting, distance, backdrop, grade — so it's repeatable. When you bring on next year's associate class or a lateral partner, the new photos drop into the existing page without a visible seam. Rolling new-hire sessions use the same specs, whether that's three months after the firm day or two years.

Where these photos end up

Firm website bios. LinkedIn. Nebraska State Bar directory listings. Avvo, Super Lawyers, and Martindale profiles. Pitch decks, proposals, CLE speaker pages, press quotes. Each of those crops differently — directory thumbnails are small and square, bio pages often want a wider frame, LinkedIn displays a circle.

So we deliver for all of them: every select comes as a tight square crop for directories and profile photos, plus the wider original for the firm site. You upload the right file to the right place once and stop thinking about it.

Pricing, plainly

Individual attorney session: $200 — 30 minutes, 10 color-graded selects, same-week delivery, studio or on-location at the same rate. Firm headshot days: volume pricing from 5 people up, as above. Additional selects available from the proofing gallery.

No sitting fees stacked on print fees stacked on 'digital licensing.' The price is the price, and the files are yours to use for the firm's marketing.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

How fast is turnaround for attorney headshots?
Same week — typically 3-5 business days for color-graded selects. If a press release, firm announcement, or filing deadline needs a photo sooner, rush (24-48 hour) delivery is available; mention it when you book.
What retouching is included?
Standard color grading and light skin smoothing on every select. We don't do facial restructuring or anything that wouldn't pass for the actual you — the photo should still look like the person who shows up to the deposition.
What specs do LinkedIn and bar directories need?
LinkedIn wants at least 400x400 pixels and displays it as a circle, so anything near the edges gets clipped — we frame with that in mind. Directory profiles like Avvo and Super Lawyers use small square thumbnails. Every select is delivered as both a square profile crop and the wider original for your firm site.
Can we add partner group photos to the same session?
Yes. Plan a few extra minutes at the end of a firm headshot day and we shoot practice-group and full-partner photos under the same lighting, so the group shots match the individual headshots on the page.
What should attorneys wear?
Whatever you'd wear to appear before a judge, not to a firm golf outing. Solid colors photograph better than busy patterns. Bring 2-3 options — a default professional look and one step more formal — and we'll pick on the spot.
