The Film That Plays at the Service
At most services there is a moment when the room goes quiet, a screen comes on, and for a few minutes everyone watches a life go by. Whatever tradition the day follows, that film tends to be the part people remember — and the one thing they ask for a copy of afterward.
Too often it gets made at midnight by an exhausted family member wrestling slideshow software. Photos out of order, crops wrong, the song cutting off mid-verse. Nobody should carry that job in the same week they are grieving.
We take it off your hands. You gather what exists — albums, shoeboxes, phone clips, old tapes — and we build the tribute film: scanned properly, restored where time has done damage, sequenced with intention, and edited to music so it lands the way the life deserves. To be clear about what this page covers: this is the film shown at the service, built from what your family already has. Filming or streaming the service itself is separate work we also do.
What You Have Is Enough
Families sometimes hesitate to call because nothing is digital. That is normal, and it is not a problem. Most of a life was photographed before phones existed — prints in albums, framed pictures on walls, negatives in envelopes, a camcorder tape nobody has a player for, a disc of scans someone burned in 2006.
We handle it. Prints and album pages are scanned at high resolution without damaging them. Faded color gets brought back. Creases, scratches, and water spots get cleaned up where restoration helps. Old camcorder tapes and discs are digitized so the moving footage — the voice, the laugh, the way someone walked into a room — makes it into the film.
Phone videos count too, even shaky ones. A ten-second clip of someone laughing at a birthday dinner often does more in a tribute film than fifty posed portraits. Bring the box as it is. Sorting, scanning, and sequencing is our job, not yours.
48 to 72 Hours When There Is a Date
When a service date is set, the tribute film is ready in 48 to 72 hours. That window is a working commitment, not a marketing line — it is why this exists as its own service rather than a rush add-on.
The process is built to be light on you. One short conversation covers the person, the tone, the music, and what the venue can play. Then you hand off the materials — drop them at our studio at 1200 N St, Suite 524, in downtown Lincoln, or share digital files to a private folder we set up. From there, the work is ours.
You receive a file formatted for the venue's screen, plus a version sized for sharing privately with family who cannot attend. When the timeline allows, you see the film before the service and we adjust; when it does not, we build it carefully enough to stand the first time. We serve Lincoln, Omaha, and greater Nebraska.
Yours to Keep — the Archive Promise
The tribute film is not a rental, and it does not live on our hard drives alone. On day one you receive full copies of everything — the finished film and the master files — on a physical drive and in a private cloud folder. Every photograph we scan comes back to you as a high-resolution digital file, which means the scanning alone often rescues a family archive that was one basement flood away from being gone.
The masters are also held in the NVAR archive on redundant storage, under a written ten-year minimum, retrievable by you or the people you designate. If a sibling in another state needs the film years from now, it is there.
And it stays private. Your film and materials are private by default — never portfolio pieces, never marketing content — released only to people you name in writing. One note for clarity: we are filmmakers, not attorneys, so nothing here is legal or estate advice.
Pricing, Plainly
Tribute edits start at $300. What moves the price is material and time: how many photos need scanning, whether there are tapes to digitize, how much restoration the images need, and how hard the deadline is. You will have a clear number before we start — no discovering the cost after the service.
NVAR Studios is owner-operated. When you call, you talk to Nvar J.M. Sinclair, the founder and executive creative director, and he is the one who builds your film. The studio holds a five-star Google rating, works on Sony cinema cameras and professional audio for its filmed work, and treats a $300 tribute edit with the same seriousness as its largest projects.
If your family also wants the service itself filmed or livestreamed, or a fuller legacy film built around recorded conversations, those are separate services under Project Legacy — but the work on this page stands entirely on its own.
